Herd tees off in round two Tuesday morning at 9:50 a.m. eastern

TEXARKANA, Ark. – The Marshall men's golf completed round one of the Conference USA Championships hosted at Texarkana Country Club on Monday.
The Thundering Herd is in 12th place. The second round tees off Tuesday at 9 a.m. eastern/8 a.m. central. Redshirt senior Cameron Root will be the first Marshall player to tee off beginning on the back-nine at 9:50 a.m. eastern/8:50 a.m. central. Live scoring is provided by GolfStat.com.
"Tyler (Jones) played really well today," Herd head coach Matt Grobe said. "He was struggling a little with his ball-striking but he stayed patient and posted a good score. Today was a challenging day and we are lokking forward to tomorrow's second round."
Sophomore Tyler Jones rebounded from a rough start to finish with a 2-over 74 and is tied for 24th to lead the Herd. Jones bogeyed three of his first four holes to then hit par or better on 13 of the next 14, including a birdie on No. 8, his second-to-last hole. Redshirt senior Matt Hoffman shot par or better on his last five holes and totaled two birdies in the round.
44th-ranked UTSA leads No. 33 Charlotte by three strokes after round one. Both teams shot under par as the Roadrunners scored a 5-under 283 and the 49ers tallied a 2-under 286. Chad Sewell of UTSA and Khavish Varadan are tied at the top of the leaderboard with a 4-under 68.
