BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Marshall volleyball team lost in three sets to 22nd-ranked WKU (11-25, 16-25, 21-25) on Friday night. The Herd and Lady Toppers play one more match on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET.

The Thundering Herd is now 4-10 overall and 0-1 in Conference USA. The Ladytoppers improve to 12-1 and 1-0 in league action. Saturday's match will be streamed on HSSN in Facebook.

"We started slow and not as aggressive as we needed to in the first two sets," Herd head coach Ari Aganus said. "Our efforts in the third are where we need to begin tomorrow. We had some bright moments, but not enough to close. WKU did a great job offensively and we weren't able to slow them down. I'm excited to get the opportunity to get right back at it tomorrow."

Graduate Ciara Debell led the Herd offensively with seven kills and hit at a .312 clip. Debell was also a perfect 15-for-15 on receptions and added two blocks. Fifth-year senior Destiny Leon had six kills and kept her streak going up to 56-straight matches with a block. Leon did not record a block in the first two sets, but tallied three in the third.

Junior Lydia Montague had six kills and senior Macy McElhaney added five. Redshirt sophomore Olivia Fogo had three kills and two blocks.

Fifth-year senior Sydney Lostumo finished with 24 assists and moved into 10th place all-time in Marshall history with 1,511 career helpers. She surpassed Christin Bimberg (2003-07) in the second set. Lostumo also had two digs and one kill.

Senior libero Sarah Schank recorded 14 digs and now has 991 in her career. She needs just nine more to become the 14th member of Marshall's 1,000 Digs Club.

The first set had two ties early in the frame before WKU took control on a long run to take the 1-0 lead. WKU led from beginning to end in the second set to grab a 2-0 lead.

Marshall showed a lot more fight in the third set with six ties and two lead changes. The Herd tied the set at 11-11 and then Leon and Fogo combined on a block to take the lead, followed by an ace from sophomore Riley Winslow. Marshall held a lead until WKU regained control at 22-21 and then finished the match.
