Herd Wins Five Events on Friday at Keydet Invitational

Day two begins Saturday at 10 a.m.
LEXINGTON, Va. – The Marshall indoor track and field team had a successful first day of competition at the Keydet Invitational as the Thundering Herd picked up wins in five events.

MU dominated the weight throw, taking the top five spots. MaryAnn Adebayo won again, this time with a mark of 19.07 meters. She was followed by Rebecca Merritt (16.38), Josie Moore (15.46), Brooke Burns (15.34) and Katie Hill (15.30).

Abby Herring bested the field in the 1,000 meters in a time of 3:04.46, an event where the Thundering Herd swept the top four spots. Tori Dotson was second (3:08.07), Kalei Jordan came in third (3:08.43) and Meagan Ward (3:12.88) posted a fourth-place finish.
Â
MU also swept the top three spots in the 400 meters. Mikah Alleyne won the race in a time of 54.92 seconds, followed by Jillian King (58.91) and Marlee Porter (59.34).

Kyleigh Edwards was victorious in the 5,000 meters in a time of 18:39.66.

Macie Majoy continued her successful run in the pole vault, winning Friday with a height of 3.65 meters, just ahead of the Herd's Diana Goodman.

Ashonti Warner (8.61) and Tyra Thomas (9.04) went 1-2 in the 60 meter hurdle prelims, while Myrka Cadet's time of 8.15 seconds in the 60 meters was good for ninth-fastest.

In the triple jump, Takira Williams had the third-longest mark at 11.41 meters.
