HUNTINGTON, W.Va. –
The No. 6 Marshall University men's soccer team (6-1-2) took down the Robert Morris Colonials (3-6-1), 3-1, on Tuesday night at Hoops Family Field in Huntington, West Virginia.

"I got a little frustrated there at the end. We didn't really grab the game," Herd men's soccer head coach Chris Grassie said after the match. "We didn't press well enough and we didn't control it end-to-end. We had some big chances, but I'd rather have more control."

Junior Adam Aoumaich fired the first shot on goal of the contest in the 22nd minute, but the shot was saved by RMU goalkeeper Friedrich Petrelli.

However, the Herd struck in the 37th minute when senior Joao Souza found the back of the net on a pass from junior Taimu Okiyoshi. The goal was Souza's fourth of the season as Okiyoshi recorded his first assist to give MU a 1-0 halftime lead.

After neither side had a shot on goal in the first 38 minutes of the second half, there was a flurry of goals. Senior Alexander Adjetey sent in a pass from the left wing and found freshman Matthew Bell, who buried a shot past Petrelli to give Marshall a 2-0 lead at the 83:13 mark. It was Bell's team-leading eighth of the season.

Just over a minute later, Anass Hadran got the Colonials on the board with a goal to cut the Herd's lead in half, 2-1.

Then nearly two minutes after the Robert Morris goal, Okiyoshi took the ball off a bounce off a Colonial defender and put a shot into the goal to extend the home side's lead back to two, 3-1, in the 87th minute with his first goal of the season.

Graduate student goalkeeper Oliver Semmle made a save with 39 seconds left in the game to preserve the 3-1 lead for Marshall.
