Herd Heads to Kentucky to Take on Colonels

First mid-week game of the season for Marshall
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University baseball team (5-3) heads to Richmond, Kentucky, to take on the Eastern Kentucky Colonels (3-4) on Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m.

The Herd went 4-0 in its second weekend at the Snowbird Classic as it took two games from St. Bonaventure and two from Northeastern.

Jordon Billups collected seven hits in 13 at-bats in the four games and scored five runs.
Â
Kyle Schafer hit a pair of homers last weekend and was one three Marshall student-athletes to bring home a weekend-high seven RBI along with Ryan Leitch and Luke Edwards.

Christian Lucio roped a team-best three doubles in the four games. Cole Williams led Marshall with eight hits.

The Herd pitching staff produced a 3.08 ERA last weekend.

Sunday's starter Ryan Capuano struck out nine Bonnies in six-shutout innings of work. He gave up just one hit and no walks to earn his first victory of the season.

Capuano along with starters Raymond Pacella, Jeffrey Purnell and Zac Addkison combined to give up just four runs in 23 innings pitched during the weekend.

Cole Agemy earned his first win at Marshall as he went three innings of relief and struck out six in Friday's game against St. Bonaventure
Scouting Eastern Kentucky
The Colonels are 3-4 this season after taking two-of-three from the Ohio Bobcats last weekend.

The EKU pitching staff is fourth in the ASUN Conference with 74 strikeouts in seven games this season.

The Colonels have 14 doubles ranking third in the ASUN.
