ROCK HILL, S.C. – Mikah Alleyne and Maria Parra each garnered victories for the Marshall track and field team on the first day of competition at the 2022 Winthrop Invitational Friday evening in Rock Hill.

The event is being held at the Irwin Belk Track & Field Complex.

Alleyne captured her second 400 Hurdles victory in as many meets, this time in 1:01.70. Marlee Porter also came in third in 1:05.46.

Parra's second round mark of 5.69 meters was good enough for the victory in the long jump.
Â
The Thundering Herd went second through fourth in the hammer throw, as Rebecca Merritt paced the group with a toss of 53.63 meters, followed by MaryAnn Adebayo (53.59) and Brooke Burns (52.04).

Sydney Smith posted a fourth-place showing in the 5000 meters in 18:09.69. Chloe Cahill also placed fourth in the javelin with a mark of 35.97 meters.

Krista Perry was MU's top finisher in the high jump in sixth (1.43 meters), while Jillian King paced Marshall in the 200 Meters with an 11th-place finish in 25.91 seconds.
