Herd Welcomes Mountaineers to Huntington

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University baseball team (12-11-1) is set to host the West Virginia Mountaineers (13-8) on Tuesday afternoon at the Kennedy Center.

Ryan Leitch has a team-high 25 RBI and has the team lead in doubles with eight this season.
 
Kyle Schaefer and Luke Edwards have each launched a five home runs this season, tied for the most on the squad. Edwards also has a team-leading .348 batting average and 32 hits.
 
Geordon Blanton is 11-for-12 in stolen-base attempts this year to lead Conference USA.
 
Among eligible pitchers, Jeffrey Purnell leads Marshall with a 2.91 ERA, three wins and 46 strikeouts.
 
Probable starting pitcher Ryan Capuano has 33 strikeouts in 23.1 innings pitched this season. The junior was the winning pitcher in a 7-1 victory over WVU at the Kennedy Center last season with 3.1 hitless innings pitched.

The Mountaineers are coming off a series sweep of the Youngstown State Penguins.
 
WVU enters the week ranked third nationally and first in the Big 12 Conference in stolen bases, with 79.
 
The Mountaineers have stolen multiple bases in 16 of their 21 games so far this season.
