Women’s Golf Improves in Final Round of River Landing Classic

WALLACE, N.C. – The Marshall women's golf team had a great final round on Tuesday at the River Landing Classic, hosted by UNC Wilmington at the River Landing Golf Course. Each player for the Herd moved up on the leaderboard.
 
Marshall moved up to 13th overall after improving its overall team score by 12 strokes over the second round. Click here to see Final Results.
 
"We played today like we know how to," Herd head coach Brooke Burkhammer said. "I'm really proud of everything I saw today. Putts were dropping and we showed lots of grit and fight throughout the round."
 
Freshman Katie Potter led the way, tied for 38th, after moving up four places on the leaderboard. After scoring a 76 in the each of the first two rounds, Potter finished Tuesday with a 1-over 73. She recorded three birdies and finished the event with eight total.
 
Senior Jackie Schmidt moved up two more places on the leaderboard after a 2-over 74 in the third round. Schmidt tallied two more birdies and finished the tournament with seven. Fifth-year senior Stormy Randazzo climbed three places after dropping her score by four shots in the third round. Randazzo rebounded after a double bogey on No. 12 to birdie both Nos. 13 and 14 to finish the day.
 
Freshman Emily McLatchey improved her score by six strokes on Tuesday and jumped up 10 places on the leaderboard. McLatchey hit four birdies in the third round to lead the team for the day. Senior Torren Kalaskey improved her score throughout the event, first by four strokes in the second round, and then dropped it three more in the third.
 
James Madison won the team competition finishing just one stroke ahead of East Carolina. Amelia Williams finished atop the leaderboard by two shots over Oda Sofie Kilsti of East Carolina.
