McLatchey Leads Herd in Round One of Conference USA Championships

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Freshman Emily McLatchey is tied for 10th to lead the Marshall women's golf team through the first round of the Conference USA Championships on Monday, played on the Championship Course at PGA National.
The Thundering Herd is tied with WKU for 10th place.
Round two tees off Tuesday beginning at 7:50 a.m. on the first and tenth holes. Marshall will start round two on the back-nine once again. Junior Makena Rauch will be the first one to tee off at 7:50 a.m. Live scoring is provided by GolfStat.com.
"I'm really proud of Emily (McLatchey) today," Herd head coach Brooke Burkhammer said. "As a freshman to come into her first Conference Championship and post the score she did on a tough golf course is incredible. We have two days to move up the leaderboard and we are looking forward to doing that."
McLatchey shot a 4-over 76 in the first round, just three shots back of being tied for second overall and six shots behind the leader. The Winter Park, Florida, native back in her home state birdied No. 6 and then hit par on her final three holes. McLatchey shot par of better on 14-of-18 holes. She tied for the fourth-most pars (13) in the field.
Fifth-year senior Stormy Randazzo and senior Jackie Schmidt are both tied for 29th. Randazzo and Schmidt had one birdie each with Randazzo's coming on No. 16 and Schmidt on No. 6.
Florida Atlantic leads the pack by four strokes over Old Dominion. Letizia Bagnoli of Florida Atlantic is atop the leaderboard with a three-stroke lead over Jana Melichova of Old Dominion and Andrea Ostos of UTEP. Bagnoli was the only player in the field to shoot under par, finishing with a 2-under 70.
