Men’s Golf Set for Conference USA Championships

Tournament set for April 25-28
TEXARKANA, Ark. – The Marshall men's golf team is on the road for the Conference USA Championships, April 25-28, at the Texarkana Country Club.
The teams play one round of 18 each day, Monday through Wednesday, with Match play involving the top four teams on Thursday, April 28. The course is a par 72 with total yardage of 6,959. Live scoring is provided by GolfStat.com. More information and links can be found on the C-USA Championship page.
Competing for the Thundering Herd will be fifth-year seniors Noah Mullens and Brad Plaziak, junior Tyler Jones, redshirt freshmen Brett Montgomery and Joseph Kalaskey, and freshman Ryan Bilby.
Due to weather that is expected to move through the area, tee times will begin at 10:30 a.m. CT/11:30 a.m. ET on the first and 10th holes. Marshall's day will begin at 11:20 a.m. CT/12:20 p.m. ET
Marshall is one of 13 teams competing in the championship with seven teams ranked in the GolfStat Top 100. The other programs are (No. 28) Charlotte, (No. 54) UAB, (No. 71) Middle Tennessee, (No. 77) Florida Atlantic, (No. 80) UTSA, (No. 82) North Texas, (No. 83) Southern Miss, Louisiana Tech, UTEP, Rice, Old Dominion and WKU.
The Herd had three weeks in between tournaments after a quick turnaround going from the Golfweek AGT Intercollegiate, March 28-30, to then the Irish Creek Intercollegiate, April 2-3, just a couple days later. Marshall finished tied for fifth at Golfweek where Jones set the team record for the lowest score in a round with a 10-under 62, and earned his first collegiate win. The Herd then finished 15th at Irish Creek.
This past week, Jones was also honored on the Conference USA All-Academic team. He was one of just two repeat selections earning the honor as well in 2021.
