NASHVILLE, Tn. – Marshall's Abby Herring destroyed her own school record in the 1500 meters Friday evening at Vanderbilt's Music City Challenge in Nashville.

The Parkersburg, W.Va. native lowered her previous mark (4:30.55) three weeks earlier at the South Florida Invite in Tampa.

Herring's time in Friday's race, which is now the fifth-fastest in Conference USA, was good for second behind Lipscomb's Merabu Nagwandala (4:23.31).

Marshall is back in action Saturday for the second day of competition, which is set to begin at 10 a.m. ET/9 a.m. CT with the hammer throw.
