Kasey McIlvaine Finishes 4th At Charlotte Invitational

Freshman’s strong effort leads Herd to a 6th Place finish
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Freshman Kasey McIlvaine finished in fourth place to lead Marshall at the Charlotte Invitational at Cabarrus Country Club in Concord, North Carolina on Tuesday.
McIlvaine finished the tournament at just 3-over par while putting in consistent efforts throughout the week.
"It was an excellent tournament for Kasey," Marshall Women's Golf coach Brooke Burkhammer said. "I'm really proud of her for putting up three solid rounds of golf on a tough course. Olivia played some great golf today, too."
On a day in which the golf course showed its teeth, Marshall sophomore Olivia Kochan bit back, firing an Even-par 72 that proved to be one of the best rounds of the day in the 53-person field.
As a team, Marshall shot its best round of the week in Tuesday's final round and finished just one stroke out of fifth place behind Radford. Host team Charlotte earned the title.
Marshall's Women's Golf team now prepares for its final event of the fall season in two weeks when they head to the FBCI Invitational, hosted by UNC-Asheville, on Oct. 30.
