HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The No. 1 Marshall University Men's Soccer team (12-2, 5-2 Sun Belt) fell 2-0 to the Kentucky Wildcats (4-6-4, 1-3-3 Sun Belt) Sunday night at Hoops Family Field.
"It was unfortunate. I just don't think we were on our game in the first half," Herd men's soccer head coach Chris Grassie said. "We didn't quite do what we needed to do. I thought the patterns were there and the gameplan we had was totally on to be played, but we didn't execute very well. We made some mistakes. A couple of mistakes led to the goals."
Marshall had shots on goal by Aymane Sordo and Alexander Stjernegaard saved at the 47:14 and 47:24 marks, respectively.
MU then had attempts on target by Pablo Simon in the 62nd minute and Taimu Okiyoshi in the 90th minute, but both attempts were saved.
Mason Visconti tallied both of the Wildcats goals in 22nd and 37th minutes.
