PRE-GAME NOTES
Marshall and App State renew a rivalry that dates back to the old Southern Conference days for both teams. Both teams come into the game at 4-4 overall and are looking to secure a win that gets them within one win of bowl eligibility.
ABOUT MARSHALL
Marshall is coming off a 34-6 loss to Coastal Carolina in which the team got two field goals from kicker Rece Verhoff.
Marshall's offense is led by running back Rasheen Ali, who has rushed for 693 yards and 11 touchdowns on the season. The 11 touchdowns ranks Ali tied for seventh in FBS. Ali is also tied for 5th in FBS in scoring at 10.3 points per game.
Defensively, this game sees the return of linebacker KeSean Brown, who played at App State for four years before transferring to Marshall prior to spring football. Brown is currently fourth on the team in tackles with 35.

ABOUT APP STATE
Â
App State is coming off a 48-38 home win over Southern Miss in which the Mountaineers rallied from a deficit in the fourth quarter to get the victory.
The catalyst in the win was quarterback Joey Aguilar, who passed for 391 yards and four touchdowns. Aguilar now has thrown for 2,173 yards and 20 touchdowns with just six interceptions on the season.
The Mountaineers had to rally, however, due to Southern Miss' ability to establish the run behind running back Frank Gore, who rushed for 247 yards and two touchdowns.
App State has allowed opposing rushing attacks to average 5.58 yards per carry, which ranks 131st of 133 FBS teams. The opposition is averaging 206.6 yards per game on the ground.
Five of App State's games have been decided by a touchdown or less, including all four of the team's losses.
