Marshall set for a three-game series against Saint Louis
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University baseball team begins the 2023 season in Hoover, Alabama, as it plays a neutral three-game series against the Saint Louis Billikens beginning Friday.

Marshall features a 38-player roster with 25 newcomers and 13 returners.
Among the returners is senior outfielder Luke Edwards. Edwards returns to Huntington after a season that saw him reach base in all but one game and had a 61-game on base streak from the 2021 season until the third to last game of the 2022 campaign. The all-Conference USA first-team honoree finished first in C-USA in hits per game at 1.53, 41st in the country, sixth in Conference USA, 88th in the nation, with 84 hits and 10th in C-USA with 137 total bases.
Friday's starter Patrick Copen had 70 strikeouts in 63.1 innings pitched across 14 appearances and 11 starts.
Raymond Pacella will be on the bump Saturday after making three starts in 2022 accumulating a 1-1 record with a 3.60 ERA.
Zac Addkison is scheduled to start the series finale on Sunday. Addkison retired 65 batters via the strikeout in 2022 in 63.1 innings.
Scouting Saint Louis
Darin Hendrickson is in his 16th season as the head coach of Billikins. Saint Louis was picked to finish third in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Coaches Poll winning the conference's regular season title in 2022.
Cam Redding returns with a team-leading .360 batting average as Tyler Fogarty hit 11 homers.
