Herd Softball Gets Set for Home Opener Thursday

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall softball team (11-3) has its long-awaited home opener against Morehead State on Thursday, March 2.

PREGAME NOTES

Marshall features the reigning Sun Belt Softball Player of the Week, Autumn Owen. Owen slugged six home runs last weekend, a new program record. Owen is 4th nationally in overall slugging percentage at 1.171.
Fifth-year senior Sydney Nester leads the nation with 58.2 IP. Nester holds a 1.31 ERA.
The Thundering Herd enters 2023 with a 330-169-2 record all-time at Dot Hicks Field.

ABOUT THE EAGLES

Morehead State enters the Thundering Herd Round Robin with a 3-3 record.
The Eagles are second in the country with five double plays turned so far in 2023.
Emily Williams leads the team offensively with two home runs and seven RBI.

After Thursday's doubleheader, Marshall will continue the Thundering Herd Round Robin against Kent State on Saturday, before facing the Golden Flashes again Sunday, then closing out the weekend against Pitt.
