Herd Falls to Texas State in Series Finale

Marshall returns to action Thursday at Georgia Southern
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The Marshall softball team dropped Sunday's series finale to Texas State, 9-1. The Herd will head into the final week of the regular season with a 40-9 record (14-5 Sun Belt Conference).
Alex Coleman finished 3-for-3 at the plate for Marshall, including her first triple of the season to lead off the 3rd. Sydney Bickel's sacrifice fly drove in Coleman to bring the Herd to within one after three innings.
Seven runs over the final two innings for Texas State (31-21-1, 10-8-1 SBC) sealed the series win for the visitors from San Marcos. The loss breaks a string of six consecutive series wins for the Herd to open the Sun Belt Conference era.
UP NEXT
Marshall returns to the field on Thursday for the final Sun Belt Conference series of the season, facing the Georgia Southern Eagles. First pitch from Statesboro will be at 6 p.m.
