Marshall Women’s Golf Tied For Fourth At Jennifer Duke Invitational

Kochan, McIlvaine in top-10 entering Tuesday’s final round
CINCINNATI, Ohio – Marshall sophomore Olivia Kochan and freshman Kasey McIlvaine each sit in the top-10 of the Jennifer Duke Invitational at Losantiville Country Club in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The duo helped lead Marshall into a tie for fourth place as play shifts to the final round of the Jennifer Duke Invitational on Tuesday.
"It's great to be back on the course with the team and competing together again," Marshall Women's Golf Coach Brooke Burkhammer said. "We fought hard and know we can improve tomorrow."
Kochan came out of the gate strong on Monday, firing an opening round 71 after carding three birdies on Hole Nos. 5, 10 and 16. She followed that up with a 75 in the second round to sit in a tie for 8th, just six shots back of the lead.
In her first action donning the Marshall logos, McIlvaine came out and was impressive, following up a 3-over 73 with a 4-over 74 in her second round to tie for 10th and remain within striking distance of leader Catie Craig of Western Kentucky, who sits at Even par for the tourney.
Emily McLatchey also saw a strong effort in her second round with a 3-over 73 that has her tied for 18th entering the final day.
As play shifts to the final round on Tuesday, Marshall finds itself just three strokes out of 2nd place in the team standings, meaning a strong performance could vault the Herd up the leaderboard.
"We left some shots out there, but I'm excited to see improvement from everyone in their final round," Burkhammer said.
