Marshall Women’s Golf Finishes 2nd At Jennifer Duke Invitational

Kochan finishes tied for 7th overall; McLatchey, McIlvaine also in top-20
CINCINNATI, Ohio – Marshall's Women's Golf team got a solid all-around team effort in Tuesday's final round to finish in 2nd place at the Jennifer Duke Invitational at Losantiville Country Club in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The Thundering Herd started the day in fourth place, but got strong performances up and down the lineup to finish the day at 10-over – only the second team to be 10-over or less in the entire tournament.
"I'm proud of our fight and commitment this week from everyone," Marshall Women's Golf coach Brooke Burkhammer said. "Our team earned this second place finish ."
Olivia Kochan finished the event tied for 7th and showed a lot of poise during her final round, ending the day with a 2-over 72 to finish just 8-over for the tournament.
Kochan got off to a tough start, but went 1-under over her final 13 holes to maintain her stance in the top-10.
Emily McLatchey fired the low round of the day for the Thundering Herd, shooting a 1-over 71 to move up to 12th place, just one stroke outside the top-10.
Marshall freshman Kasey McIlvaine also saw success in her first competition representing the Thundering Herd as she finished tied for 17th overall.
Abbey Bull and Katie Potter each finished the tournament strong as well with Bull firing a 3-over 73 and Potter carding a 4-over 74 to factor into the Herd's strong day.
Western Kentucky won the team championship, finishing at 14-over as a team.
Marshall's Women's Golf team now has a few weeks off before their next event – the Butler Fall Invitational on Oct. 2-3 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
