HARRISONBURG, Va. – A second-consecutive match with an early-half penalty put Marshall (5-3-1) behind the ball in a loss to conference-unbeaten James Madison (5-2-3).

A 14th minute penalty following a called handball in the box put the home Dukes in front early. With the match dymanic shifted, JMU would score three more in the second half to come away with a 4-0 victory.

"Yes unfortunately we came on the wrong end of some decisions early which cost us in key moments," Head Coach Michael Swan said. "But we are proud of this team. Proud of this program. We are going to stick together and fight through the adversity we are facing. We had some good performances from some young players tonight when we called upon them."

"We will get some players back in the next few games, and there is no doubt we will continue what we started early in the season. Every season has its bumps in the road and we went through one tonight. We have no doubt that this program will come through. We will stick together and fight through the adversity. We cannot wait to see what we do Sunday and then through the rest of the season."

Leading the Herd offensively was senior Olivia Gandee with three shots, two of which were on net. JMU's Preseason Defensive Player of the Year Alexandra Blom made three saves as the Preseason-top ranked Dukes pitched its fourth-straight shutout.
