Herd Women’s Soccer Remains Unbeaten After 3-0 Win Over Gardner-Webb

HUNTINGTON, W.Va – The Marshall women's soccer team improved to 4-0-1 on the season with a dominant 3-0 win over Gardner-Webb Sunday afternoon at Hoops Family Field.
Makai Laguines, Demari Curry, and Cassidy Bell all scored their first goals of the season for MU. For Curry, it was her first career goal as a member of the Thundering Herd.
The Herd is now unbeaten through five matches. Head Coach Michael Swan's side has matched its victory total from a season ago.
"Another clean sheet," Coach Swan said. "Solid performance by the group. We managed the temperatures and got a lot of players in. The flow of the game was interrupted a little bit with the water breaks but we stayed focused and got our fourth win of the year."

Alexis Wolgemuth quietly pitched her fourth shutout of the season. The sophomore goalkeeper was needed for just one save on four Runnin' Bulldog (1-5) shots. The Herd midfield and backline including starters Kylie Archer, Ava Hall, Kellyn Fausel, and Regina Fiabema prevented GWU from getting clean looks on target.
In a match where Marshall controlled 61 percent of the possession, it was Laguines' header on a free kick from Abi Hugh which put the Herd in front after a quarter-hour. Curry's goal seven minutes later from Alyssa Hardin put the match out of reach with Bell's penalty kick sealing the 3-0 victory.
