Herd Women’s Soccer Plays to Hard-Fought Draw Sunday

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall women's soccer (3-5-4, 1-2-3 SBC) drew with App State (5-3-5, 2-0-3 SBC) Sunday with teams finishing a goal apiece.
Marshall defender Kajsa Ekstrom scored her first collegiate goal on a well-designed play off a corner in the 8th minute, opening the scoring.

Junior goalkeeper Alexis Wolgemuth made four saves, with her biggest coming from point-blank range against the Sun Belt Conference leader in goals late in the first half.
Marshall's resistance was broken in the 70th minute on the App State equalizer, leading to the teams sharing the points.
With the draw, Marshall is in a three-way tie for the seventh spot in the upcoming conference tournament.
One of the teams Marshall is level with in the standings is Coastal Carolina, who Marshall travels to for a match on Friday, Oct. 18. Kick from Conway is at 3 p.m.
