Marshall Men to Host Texas State Thursday in SBC Home Opener

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Men's Basketball team (7-7, 0-1 SBC) opens a four-game homestand with contests against the Texas State Bobcats (8-4, 1-0 SBC) at 7 p.m. on Thursday and against the Troy Trojans (8-4, 1-0 SBC) at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Marshall returns to SBC action after a non-conference game at Elon on Saturday.
Graduate student Mikal Dawson now has six straight double-figure scoring games after tallying 24 against the Phoenix.
The native of Huntington now has four games of at least 20 points this season and has made 40 shots from behind the arc, 35th most in the country.
Obinna Anochili-Killen leads the conference with 59 makes from charity stripe as he's averaging 12.4 points per game.
Dawson leads MU in scoring at 13.8 points per game as Dezayne Mingo and Nate Martin are each averaging double0figure points at 10.5 and 10.3 points per game respectively.

ABOUT THE BOBCATS

Texas State is coming off an 80-72 loss at home to UT Arlington on Sunday.
The Bobcats opened SBC play with an 83-61 win over Georgia Southern on December 21.
TXST leads the league in three-point shooting percentage as it makes 38.0 percent of its shots from behind the arc.
Tyrel Morgan leads his side at 15.0 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Morgan leads the conference with a 52.4 shooting percentage.

ABOUT THE TROJANS

Troy begins the week with a contest at App State on Thursday night before coming to Huntington on Saturday.
The Trojans have won their last three contests after opening conference play with a 77-57 home victory over Georgia State on December 21.
Troy sits 11thin the country in steals per game, averaging 10.3 per contest.
Myles Rigsby leads the team with 12.7 points per game as Tayton Conerway has dished out a team-best 49 assists with 9.4 points per contest.
