Track and Field Starts 2024-25 Season With Marshall Opener Friday

First event starts at 5 p.m. from Chris Cline Indoor Facility
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The Marshall track and field teams open its 2024-25 season at home Friday for the Marshall Opener. Three schools will join the Herd at the Chris Cline Indoor Facility (Glenville State, Morehead State and University of Charleston).
The facility opens at 3:30 p.m. with throwing events starting at 5. The first running event on the Jeff Small Track will be at 7.

Marshall is starting season two under Director of Track and Field, Keith Roberts. The Herd is coming off a 2023-24 campaign with four SBC Gold Medals, four NCAA Preliminary Qualifiers, and over 10 school records broken.
In the offseason, Marshall signed its largest recruiting class in program history, with 39 athletes signed during the 2024-25 period.
"It's always nice to have your first meet after a long fall, these kids have worked really hard from September all the way to now in December without any official competition but a couple tests here and there," Coach Roberts said. "It's going to be a nice rust-buster and measuring point to see where we are at. We have a young team and I know they are excited to get their first college meet under their belt. We will get a good chance to see what we are all about as a team."
Following Friday's meet, the track and field program will have finals next week and go on break before returning to competition for the Marshall Alumni Classic Jan. 11.
