Bilby in Top-20 heading to final round at Sea Palms Resort
ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Marshall Men's Golf moved into the Top-10 as a team on Friday at the Peoples Golf Championship at Sea Palms Resort in St. Simons Island, Georgia.
Ryan Bilby led the Thundering Herd, firing his second consecutive Even-par 71 to pace the team.
"Today was another challenging day," Marshall Men's Golf coach Matt Grobe said. "The course and the conditions were both tough and the wind was swirling all day, which was tough to judge. I was very pleased with the fight the guys displayed today, but we still haven't played our best golf down here. We're looking forward to seeing the guys finish off this tournament with a great round tomorrow."
Bilby finished his round with four birdies and, much like in Thursday's first round, the Follansbee, W.Va., native took full advantage of the par-5s on the course with birdies on three of the four par-5 holes at Sea Palms Resort.
Like Bilby, Marshall's Clayton Thomas also had four birdies on the day, including consecutive birdies on Nos. 15 and 16, which helped him to a 1-over 72.
Tyler Jones and Cameron Jarvis each came in with 3-over 74s, which helped the Herd move up to a tie for 10th place in the 22-team tournament – two spots ahead of their Day One standing.
