Herd Women’s Golf Has Five Named 2023-24 WGCA Academic All-Americans

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Women's Golf had five players honored as members of the 2023-24 WGCA All-American Scholar Team, the WGCA released on Monday.
Those honored by the WGCA included juniors Katie Potter and Emily McLatchey, sophomores Abbey Bull and Olivia Kochan and freshman Kasey McIlvaine.
"I'm proud of the commitment that our players show in the classroom and on the course," Marshall Women's Golf coach Brooke Burkhammer said. "Earning Academic All-American honors is a great accomplishment and I'm very pleased with all of their hard work to make this happen."
Marshall was one of only three Sun Belt Conference programs to have at least five selections on the 2023-24 WGCA All-American Scholar Team, joining Texas State and Southern Miss.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team is some of the most stringent in college athletics, which shows the high-level academic achievements of those on the list.
To be selected to the list, a student-athlete must have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher, be an amateur and on the team's roster through the conclusion of the team's season and have played in 50 percent of the program's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the entire year through the team's conference championship.
Throughout all divisions of college golf, less than 1,500 women's golf participants across 412 different programs were recognized with the prestigious honor.
