HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Volleyball team (6-4) fell to the EKU Colonels in four sets (7-3), 3-1 (25-18, 25-17, 18-25, 25-23), on Tuesday night in the Cam Henderson Center.

"We didn't execute properly," Herd Volleyball Head Coach Ari Aganus said after the match. "We didn't put the ball away, we had plenty of opportunities. We have to focus on being consistent."

Brynn Brown registered a double-double with 25 assists and 10 kills with a .320 hitting percentage. Peyton Neal led the team with 22 digs as Megan Taylor recorded a match-high five blocks including three solo efforts.

After falling 25-18 in the first and 25-17 in the second, the third set was all Marshall. The third frame started with kills by Teagan Melton and Izzy Collier to go with a Colonel attacking error to take a 3-0 lead. The Herd captured nine of the first 13 points to hold a 9-4 advantage and force an EKU timeout. MU concluded the set without trailing cruising to a 25-18 victory. Marshall hit a match-high .379 converting 14 of its 29 attacks with just three errors.

The fourth set was a see-saw battle between the two sides. The frame saw the two sides tie the scoreboard 11 times with the lead changing just twice. The Herd and Colonels saw the score tied 21-21 late in the set. Marshall fought and tried to force a fifth, but EKU took the set by the narrow margin of 25-23 to end the match.
