HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall (6-4-2, 2-2-2 Sun Belt Conference) played visiting Old Dominion to a 0-0 draw Sunday night from Hoops Family Field, halting the conference leaders' scoring streak as goalkeeper Emma Durand anchored a determined defensive effort.
Facing an Old Dominion attack that entered the match with 12 goals in its previous two contests, Marshall absorbed wave after wave of pressure but maintained discipline and composure throughout. Durand made three saves, including a crucial stop in the 2nd minute to deny Riley Mullen and another in the 87th minute to keep out a late effort from Mia Serna. The Monarchs outshot Marshall 17-4, with 11 of those attempts coming after halftime, but the Herd back line held firm to secure its fourth clean sheet of the season.

"Proud to get a point, ODU is one of the best teams in the conference and nationally and they showed us today why," Head Coach Rafa Simoes said. "This was a good performance, I am proud of the girls, it was a hard-fought point against a really good side."
Marshall's lone shot on goal came from Luiza Travassos in the 54th minute, forcing ODU goalkeeper Ellie Goodrich into a save. The match was marked by physical play in midfield, with 18 fouls committed and three yellow cards issued. The Herd's discipline and organization under pressure proved decisive in holding the division leaders scoreless for the first time since September.
Though Old Dominion finished with a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks and managed only three shots on target, Marshall's defensive unit consistently cleared dangerous balls and absorbed late pressure. The result keeps the Herd in the hunt for a Sun Belt Conference tournament berth with four league matches remaining.
