Herd Baseball Falls in Series Finale at Arkansas State

JONESBORO, Ark. – The Marshall University Baseball team (11-9, 1-2 SBC) dropped the series finale at Arkansas State (9-10, 2-1 SBC), 9-1, on Sunday in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

"We got beat today by their pitcher (Hibbard), who did a great job of keeping us off balance," Herd Baseball Head Coach Greg Beals said after the contest. "Our offense was unable to figure him out and defensively we were unable to match his outing. Today's loss hurts, as we were hoping for a better start in conference play."

The Herd got on the board early with an RBI single from Eddie Leon in the second, but the Red Wolves plated nine straight across the final seven frames to take the series.

Arkansas State starting pitcher Jack Hibbard threw a complete game allowing the unearned on four hits and no walks with nine strikeouts.

Tyler Kamerer registered his sixth double of the season in the top of the sixth.

Out of the bullpen, Charlie Krebs allowed no earned runs, three total, in 2.0 innings of work with a pair of strikeouts. Clint Moak hurled 2.1 frames giving up just one run on two hits.
