Herd Bats Stay Hot With 10-7 Win Over Miami

Brooklyn Ulrich matches a career-high with five RBI
OXFORD, Ohio — For the second game in a row, Marshall Softball (15-13, 2-1 SBC) had an inning with five-plus runs in a 10-7 win on the road over Miami (Ohio) (12-15, 3-0 MAC).
The Herd jumped on the RedHawks with five in the second and three more in the third. MU's quick start followed a game in which the team scored seven in the opening inning of its series-clinching win over Louisiana last Saturday.
Redshirt junior Brooklyn Ulrich drove in five to lead the Herd, matching a career-high. The Preseason SBC Player of the Year brought in the Herd's first two in the five-run 2nd. She also mashed a three-run home run in the 3rd, her fourth of the season, and second game in a row with a long ball.

The Ulrich home run followed a lined solo shot by Rielly Lucas in the 1st. The senior's five home runs lead the Herd.
The runs came in support of Jules King, who earned her team-leading fifth victory of the season. King struck out six while limiting the hosts to four hits.
Freshman Maddie Veal finished out the game for Marshall. The Newnan, Georgia native pitched the final 2.2 of the contest with a punchout of her own.
Marshall's third home run came off the bat of Haleigh Adkins. The Lincoln County native is a Miami transfer.

Marshall returns to Dot Hicks Field on Wednesday to host Ohio at 5 p.m.
