TROY, Ala. – The Marshall University Baseball team (12-15, 2-6 SBC) fell in a heartbreaker, 4-3, to the No. 17 Troy Trojans (21-7, 6-2 SBC) Saturday afternoon in Troy, Alabama.

"Tough loss today," Herd Baseball Head Coach Greg Beals. "We had it in hand and let it get away. The free baserunners again came back to hurt us. We competed at a very high level and there were a lot of things to like today. But we must execute the little things better and find a way to be the team that wins in situations."

Starting pitcher Griffin Miller registered his fifth quality start of the year in the ballgame. The sophomore hurled 7.1 innings allowing two runs, one earned, on just one hit and five walks with a season-high eight strikeouts.

Cam Harthan hit his first home run of the season as Eddie Leon launched his fifth of the year in the game.

Down 1-0 in the top of the third, Leon stood at third with one out. Tyler Kamerer brought Leon home with a RBI groundout to tie the contest.

Harthan gave MU its first lead of the contest with a solo blast to right in the top of the fifth with Leon adding a run with a long ball to left in the top of the eighth to go up 3-1.

Troy benefited from a Brooks Bryan three-RBI triple in the bottom of the eighth with The Herd falling in game two.
