Herd Women’s Soccer Opens 2025 Season with 3-0 Road Victory

MOREHEAD, Ky. – Marshall women's soccer launched its 2025 campaign with a commanding 3-0 victory over Morehead State on Thursday evening.

The Herd's offense overwhelmed Morehead State with 19 shots - 12 on target - and capitalized on set pieces, relentless pressure and dynamic playmaking. The Herd's discipline on defense limited the Eagles to just five shots and two on goal. Emma Durand earned her first-career clean sheet in net.

Bailey Fisher spearheaded the attack, scoring the opening goal from the penalty spot in the 14th minute. Fisher's composed finish to the bottom left corner set the tone for the match, and she continued to lead the front line, registering a game-high eight shots and four on target during her 82 minutes on the pitch.

Substitute Marcella Alves extended Marshall's lead before halftime, making an immediate impact in her first game in the green and white.

The offensive onslaught continued after the break, with Tiggi Gent sealing the result in the 72nd minute. Gent finished off a well-worked play with an assist from Brooklyn McComas, sending a shot into the bottom right corner and putting the game out of reach.

Marshall dominated possession, earned six corners and exhibited a collaborative, unified approach that featured contributions from both starters and substitutes. The Herd's ability to keep the ball, create chances and stay disciplined defensively was on full display in front of 345 fans at MSU Soccer Field.
