Marshall Baseball Announces Addition of Five Student-Athletes

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Baseball Head Coach Greg Beals announced the addition of five transfers to the 2026 roster on Monday.

Joining The Herd are Evan Bottone, Alex Caudill, Oliver Service, Cleary Simpson and Drew Harlow, who pitched for Marshall during the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

"I am excited about this group of five transfers who will greatly complement our ball club and university," Beals said. "There is a lot that goes into recruiting the transfer portal (transfer credits, transcript evaluations, degree progress, etc.), I would like to thank all those involved including our athletics compliance staff and academic support staff, along with our friends in admissions. Our recruiting efforts are led by Tim Donnelly, our Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. He and Coach Blair Everhart pounded the pavement this summer, and their efforts have been rewarded with this strong group that rounds off our 2026 roster."

"Drew Harlow is back with The Herd and that fires me up. Due to NCAA rulings he had to transfer to a D2 school to compete last season where he led the nation in strikeouts. Fortunately, the same NCAA rulings have granted him another year of eligibility at the D1 level. Drew is a proven pitcher in the Sun Belt and is a huge addition to our already strong pitching staff."

"Oliver is a very athletic catcher. He possesses all the tools to be an elite backstop. We look forward to working and refining those skills. Oliver will make an immediate impact on our catching corps, and we are excited to have him in our program."

"Cleary is a ball player! He has proven success wherever he has been. Defensively, he can play anywhere in the infield, and offensively, he has great discipline and great bat to ball skills. I believe Cleary will be a great addition to our lineup."
