HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Baseball team (13-12, 5-3 SBC) fell in game two of its series against No. 15 Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (19-7, 8-0 SBC), 12-4, Saturday afternoon at Jack Cook Field.

"We started out hot. We made some plays on the defensive side and got a big hit from Havrilla early in the game to take a 4-0 lead and we weren't able to sustain that," Herd Baseball Head Coach Greg Beals said. "It starts on the mound and just way too many free passes. It's like a broken record on that when we don't play it's because of the free stuff. They scored 12 runs and nine of their 12 runs today were walked on base, errored on base or errored in."

AJ Havrilla led the MU offense with three RBI with a pair of hits, including a homer, with Cooper Hinson also having a multi-hit game.

The Herd jumped on top early taking advantage of a Chanticleer error as Havrilla scored in the top of the second on a double play.

Marshall, like clockwork from game one, struck with two outs in the bottom of the third. Evan Bottone drew a one-out walk as Tyler Kamerer doubled to put the pair in scoring position. After a strikeout, Havrilla stepped to the plate with two outs.

With a 2-2 count, Havrilla launched his fourth homer of the season to left to plate runs and give the home side a 4-0 lead.

However, Coastal would score at least one run across the final five innings taking advantage of six errors, six walks and a hit by pitch.

The Chanticleers scored three runs in the fifth, one in each of the sixth and seventh innings, two in the eighth and five in the ninth take game two of the series.
