SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Marshall University Baseball team (23-29, 13-15 SBC) dropped its series opener Thursday, 5-0, to Texas State (32-22, 14-14 SBC) Thursday night in San Marcos, Texas.

"We got beat tonight. Their pitching out executed our offense, especially at the bottom of the zone. We need to get back at them tomorrow to earn a spot in our conference tournament," Herd Baseball Head Coach Greg Beals said.

Tyler Kamerer picked up his team-best 19th double of the season.
Â
In the bottom of the first Jaquae Stewart and Clayton Namken hit back-to-back two-out homers to put the Bobcats up 2-0.
Â
Brady Boyles followed with a homer for Texas State in bottom of the second to see the Herd trail 3-0.
Â
The Bobcats added two more runs in the bottom of the seventh on a Behler single and a Stewart double to make it 5-0.
