HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Marshall University Baseball team (21-26, 11-13 SBC) dropped the series finale, 5-3, on Sunday in Harrisonburg, Virginia, to the James Madison Dukes (20-26, 10-14 SBC).

AJ Havrilla registered a 4-for-4 day at the plate with a RBI. Mason Onate registered his third multi-hit game of the series with a triple as Evan Bottone picked up a two-hit contest with a double.

Starting pitcher Kenyon Collins gave up four runs on eight hits and a walk with four strikeouts in 6.0 innings.

In the bottom of the first, Ike Schmidly hit a solo two-out homer to have MU trailing 1-0. Then in the bottom of the third, Kyle Langley plated a run with a double for the Dukes to make it 2-0 for the home side.

The Herd tallied its first run in the top of the fifth. Onate led off with a triple and a Cam Harthan ground out brought him home to make it 2-1. The Dukes answered with a Schmidly sacrifice fly to extend the deficit for Marshall back to two runs, 3-1.

MU rallied in the top of the eighth. Jackson Golden led off with a single as a Bottone double to center to runners in scoring position with no outs. A Tyler Kamerer ground out scored Golden. One batter later, Havrilla singled through the right side to bring home Bottone and cut JMU's lead to 4-3.

The Dukes tallied a run in the bottom of the eighth. Marshall couldn't strike in the top of the ninth to overcome the deficit.
