Herd Volleyball Travels to Hampton Inn Invitational

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Volleyball Team (2-1) hits the road for the first time this season as it goes to the Hampton Inn Invitational in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The Herd is set for matches against Akron, IU Indy and Youngstown State.

Thursday Sept. 3
Marshall vs. Akron – 4 p.m.

Friday Sept. 4
Marshall at IU Indy – 6 p.m.

Saturday Sept. 5
Marshall vs. Youngstown State – 1 p.m.

PRE-MATCH NOTES

The Herd started the season with a pair of sweeps over Niagara and Bucknell with a loss to Ohio at the Marshall Invitational last weekend.
Maddie Smith and Beatrice Ciccarelli were named to the all-tournament team.
Smith registered 27 kills, including 16 against Bucknell, with a .345 hitting percentage.
Ciccarelli accumulated a .429 hitting percentage with 19 kills and six blocks during the weekend.

SCOUTING AKRON

The Zips enter the weekend 1-2 after starting the season with a win over ETSU and losses to Liberty and Auburn at the Buccaneer Classic.
Vanessa del Real led Akron with 45 digs across the three matches.

SCOUTING IU INDY

The Jaguars began their season at the Washington Tournament with losses to Washington and San Diego State with a win over UC Irvine.
Jillian Tippmann led IU Indy with 42.5 points and 37 kills.

SCOUTING YOUNGSTOWN STATE

The Penguins went 2-1 at the YSU Invitational with wins over Mercyhurst and Canisius and a loss to Duquesne.
Kylie Surratt finished with 40 kills in the teams first three matches.
