HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Women's Soccer (3-1-1) returns home to Huntington Thursday evening for a 7 p.m. kickoff against Murray State (0-4-1).
Thursday's game theme at Hoops Family Field at Veterans Memorial Soccer Complex is "We Are Thankful" with MU ROTC and National Guard tables at the concourse.

COACH RAFA SIMOES
- Head Coach Rafa Simoes is in his third season leading the MU Women's Soccer program. The former associate with the Herd men's team is a 2018 graduate of the University of Charleston in West Virginia, where he played for then-head coach Chris Grassie.
- Simoes and the Herd had a resurgent 2025 season. In his second year as skipper for MU, Simoes led the team to win its most games in a decade with four All-Conference selections, also the program's most since 2015.
PRE-MATCH NOTES
- The Herd is coming off an unbeaten week on the road with a draw at Belmont and victory at UT Martin. Leading the way for the Herd was Wiktoria Mikrut, who earned SBC Offensive Player of the Week following her three goal and one assist showing in the two contests. Mikrut's four goals ranks 3rd in the league, and she is 2nd in shots (21) and 4th in shots on goal (9).
- Marshall is averaging 2.200 assists per contest, a mark which leads the SBC. Delfina Lombardi and Geovanna Souza have two assists apiece to pace MU.
- Following Marshall's contest against Murray State, the Herd will travel to Morgantown for a Sunday evening game against No. 7 WVU. MU is 0-8-1 against ranked opponents all-time, with a 0-4 record against Top-10 foes. The last Marshall contest against a ranked team was in 2019, a 3-2 double overtime loss at No. 9 Vanderbilt.
ABOUT THE RACERS
- Murray State is still seeking its first win of 2026, having lost to Ole Miss (1-0), Missouri (3-1), Notre Dame (3-0), and most-recently, Georgia Southern (1-0). The Racers registered a home 2-2 draw against the Herd's latest opponent, UT Martin.
- Head Coach Ben Madsen is in his first season as Head Coach for the Racers. The longtime Auburn coach is Murray State's fifth in program history.
- Marshall seeks its first win in program history against Murray State, with the Racers holding a 2-0-1 all-time advantage. Thursday will be the first time Marshall has hosted in the series.
