Stephen New

Stephen New

Stephen New is a native of Gilbert, West Virginia, living and practicing law in Beckley. He is a 1994 graduate of Marshall University, B.A. Political Science. While a student at Marshall, Stephen was a member of the Thundering Word Debate Team from 1992 to 1994; he was also a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity and received his Commission as an Armor Officer upon completion of Army ROTC as part of the Thundering Herd Battalion. Stephen is a 1998 graduate of the West Virginia University College of Law, Order of the Barristers. In August 1999, Stephen joined Pamela A. Lambert’s law practice in Gilbert until leaving to start his own office in May 2004, which is now New, Taylor and Associates, with offices in Beckley and Charleston.
 

Stephen concentrates his practice primarily in personal injury, wrongful death and mass torts. Stephen is licensed in all courts in West Virginia. He is licensed before the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia, and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the American Association of Justice and the West Virginia Association of Justice, serving as a member of its Board of Directors. Stephen is a past President of the West Virginia Association for Justice.
 

Stephen retired as a Major with the West Virginia Army National Guard in May 2009. Stephen enlisted in the Army National Guard at the age of 17, on December 23, 1988. He has served at Ft. Knox, KY, Ft. Bliss, TX, Ft. Bragg, NC, Ft. Dix, NJ and elsewhere. Stephen retired in 2009 as the Deputy Commander of Camp Dawson in Kingwood, West Virginia.
 

Stephen lives in Beckley WV with his wife Amy, a 1995 graduate of Marshall University. They are the proud parents of Rebekah New, who is a sophomore at the University of Kentucky and an aspiring Broadway actress.
