Dyer Wins Triple Jump at Heart of the Bluegrass

LEXINGTON, Ky. - With a jump of 11.88 meters, sophomore Loren Dyer won the triple jump at the inaugural Heart of Bluegrass Classic on Saturday in Lexington, Ky.
The season-best mark by Dyer served as the only winning mark by the Thundering Herd which held off many of its top student-athletes for the Penn Relays next weekend.
Senior Paige Govey placed second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:35.25. Marshall's 4x100 meter relay team placed second with a time of 47.14.
It was the inaugural meet at the University of Kentucky's new track and field complex. Senior Crystal Walker competed, but not in her usual event, the long jump. She placed third in the 100 meter run with a time of 12.20 and eighth in the 200 meter run with a time of 24.58.
Freshman Asia Bange placed third in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14:35. Senior Alecia Daniels placed fourth in the event with a time of 15.42.
