Volleyball Travels North to Take on WVU

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Marshall volleyball hits the road for a non-conference match against the WVU Mountaineers, Wednesday at 6 p.m.

The match will be live streamed.

The Thundering Herd enters the match with an overall record of 10-17. The Mountaineers come in at 10-14.

Marshall is coming off a three-set loss against the FIU Panthers. The Herd is led offensively by redshirt sophomore Ciara Debell with 406 kills. Seniors Shelby Conley and Lauren Mattmuller are next with 169 and 167, respectively. Redshirt junior Jayden Jacobs and freshman Autumn Elswick have been splitting time at setter the past two matches and both have over 70 assists this season.

On defense, junior libero Amber Weber has recorded 514 digs in her first full season as the fulltime libero for Marshall. Weber is averaging 5.14 digs per set. Freshman Isa Dostal leads with 54 total blocks and Debell is second with 43.

The Mountaineers have dropped its last two matches against Kansas (3-1) and Kansas State (3-0). On offense, Katelyn Evans (285) and Kristin Lux (213) lead the way in kills. Lacey Zerwas has been the main setter for WVU with 672 assists. Defensively, Alex Hasting leads the team with 271 digs. Katie DeMeo leads with 108 total blocks.

Following the match at WVU, the Herd heads south for the regular season finale at Charlotte. First serve against the 49ers is set for Friday, Nov. 9 at 6 p.m.
