Event to be held Friday, Saturday
LEXINGTON, Va.-For the first time in the 2018-2019 season, Marshall's track and field team will be on the road. The Thundering Herd is back in action Friday at the Keydet Invitational. The two-day event is hosted by the Virginia Military Institute, which is located in Lexington, Virginia.
In what shapes up to be its third competition of the season, the Thundering Herd will be going up against at least 21 other schools from four different states. Marshall is looking to continue its strong start, having won both the Marshall Opener and Marshall Women's Classic.
The Invitational will kick off with the 60-meter hurdles prelims on Friday at 2 p.m. Marshall will be represented in the event by sophomore Taylor Robinson and juniors Christiana Dogan and Safiyyah Mitchell.
Mitchell is someone to keep an eye on, after she broke a Marshall Women's Classic 60-meter hurdles record and won the final.
Thirteen other Marshall athletes will compete on Friday, and the day will be capped off by the 1000-meter run (with Madelyn Garrison and Alyssa Long scheduled to run).
The following day, teams will start with the 1-mile run at 10:30 a.m., with freshman Alexandra Evans and juniors Adriana Cook and Mary Kerby set to run for Marshall. The Herd will have 21 athletes in total competing on Saturday.
