Series History: First ever meeting

Marshall traveled out to Loyola Marymount for its first ever meeting against the Lions and came away with a 4-1 win, Tuesday night. The Herd dominated from the start with three goals in a span of five minutes and forty seconds, beginning in the 19th minute. Junior Pedro Dolabella recorded the first goal of the game with a header off a perfectly executed corner kick from senior Jonas Westmeyer. Just under three minutes later, junior Jamil Roberts scored off some touch passing from Dolabella and redshirt freshman Milo Yosef. Then, just under three minutes later, Yosef found the back of the net again off some great touch passing from sophomore Vitor Dias and Roberts. LMU finally got on the board converting a penalty kick in the 64th minute to cut the deficit to two, 3-1. In the 84th minute, in the midst of a physical and yellow card filled second half, Roberts found Yosef on a breakaway for the fourth goal of the match. LMU totaled four yellows and one straight red card, with only one yellow coming in the 1st half. Marshall also had four yellows all coming in the second half. Redshirt senior keeper Paulo Pita tallied three saves in the win.

Yosef leads the Herd with eight goals and the match at Loyola Marymount was his second contest of the year with two goals. Roberts leads with a career-high nine assists, tied for fourth in program history. He has tallied the most assists in a season for a Herd player since 1993 when Shawn Sizemore had 10 and Ryan LaPointe had nine. Marshall's record for most assists in a season is 10 and has been accomplished three times.

The Herd has outscored the opposition 30-9 this season as 10 different players have scored at least one goal and seven have scored two or more. Junior Pedro Dolabella is second on the team, behind Yosef, with five goals and also has four assists. Westmeyer is second, behind Roberts, with six assists and has scored two goals. Sophomore Jan-Erik Leinhos has three goals.

Pita has continued to thrive and play every minute in goal this year. The redshirt senior is second in C-USA, and 22nd in the NCAA, with a 0.72 goals against average. Pita leads the conference with a .804 save percentage. He has tallied 37 saves and has five shutouts. Senior defender Illal Osmanu has the second most minutes on the team, behind Pita, with 1,106 as the reigning two-time C-USA Defensive Player of the Week has missed just 14 minutes this year. Osmanu has been the leader of the defense and has been pivotal in the Herd's success on the back line.

The Aztecs played tough against Stanford and were only outshot by two, 9-7. The Cardinal did manage five shots on goal to San Diego State's one. Stanford broke the scoreless match open with the lone goal coming in the 58th minute.

The Aztecs have been outscored 24-15 this season. Hunter George leads the squad with five goals and Pablo Pelaez is right behind with four. SDSU has managed to outshoot its competition 148-126, however the opposition holds a 63-62 advantage in shots on goal.
