Marshall Volleyball Notes
 
BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Marshall volleyball team is back in action on Sunday at 12 p.m., at the Florida Atlantic Owls. It is the final road match of the regular season for Marshall.
 
The Thundering Herd enters the match with an overall record of 16-9 and 7-5 in conference play. The Owls come in at 13-9 and 7-4 in league action.

Marshall is coming off its fourth-straight victory, a hard-fought five set win at FIU on Friday. Redshirt junior Ciara Debell (27) and sophomore Sarah Schank (22) took control in the match and combined for 49 kills. The Herd tallied 17 total team blocks in the victory with sophomore Isa Dostal assisting on 10.
 
Debell leads the team with 372 kills this season and Schank is second with 204. The two-setter combination of sophomore Gabrielle Coulter (512) and junior Syndey Lostumo (401) has combined for 913 assists this season while senior libero Amber Weber has tallied another 100. Lostumo leads the team in aces with 32.
 
On defense, Weber continued her consecutive matches streak with at least 10 digs to 28-straight. She now has 435 this season. Junior Destiny Leon and Dostal have been lethal at the net as Leon has 119 total blocks and Dostal is right behind with 117.
 
Opponent
The Florida Atlantic Owls have dropped its last two matches against North Texas and at No. 17 Rice. The Owls will have two matches remaining after the Senior Day contest against the Herd. FAU will finish up on the road at Middle Tennessee and Charlotte.
 
Florida Atlantic has a balanced offensive attack with six players all over 100 kills. Massiel Matos leads the team with 217 and Sydney Nemtuda is second with 208. The Owls are averaging 13.26 kills per set and allowing 11.30 kills per set. FAU has been using a two-setter rotation as well as Nikki Lakman leads with 497 assists and Stephanie Young is second with 391.
 
On defense, Kori Varney leads the team with 256 digs and Nemtuda is second with 237. The Owls are averaging 2.25 blocks per set this season as Zuri Smith leads the way with 86 total and 1.23 per set.
