Mitchell, Zaglifa Earn Podium Finishes at C-USA Indoor Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The C-USA Indoor Track and Field Championships are now in the books, as is the Herd's 2018-2019 indoor season. Marshall track and field finished eighth out of thirteen teams, totaling 43 team points—up from its 35 team points last year.

UTEP took first place with 89.5 points, and Charlotte and Middle Tennessee rounded out the top three.

Safiyyah Mitchell took home a second place medal in the 60-meter hurdles final, running an 8.44 time. The time is her best of the season. Kyra Atkins of Charlotte won first place in the event, running an 8.19. That time is ranked sixteenth in the nation, per TFFRS. Taylor Robinson also finished fourth in hurdles and her time of 8.65 is a new personal record. Christianna Dogan finished eighth.

In the 4x400 Relay, a team of Christianna Dogan, Brandy Elysee, Safiyyah Mitchell and Talor Wilkerson finished eighth. Their time of 3:49.96 is the best relay time by a Marshall team all season.

Sophomore Lauren Zaglifa placed second in pole vault, posting a mark of 3.86 meters. The mark ties her season-best, which she set in December at the Marshall opener. Freshman Macie Majoy also finished fourth in the event.

In the shot put final, seniors Elena Marchand and Hasana Clark finished sixth and ninth, respectively. Freshman MaryAnn Adebayo finished fifteenth.

UP NEXT:
The Herd will now have a month off before the start of the outdoor season. On Mar. 14, the team will head to Atlanta, Georgia, for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket Invitational.
