Marshall snapped a six-game win streak with the loss

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall baseball (10-6) lost a pitching duel to FIU, 3-0, in 10 innings on Friday to open Conference USA action at the Kennedy Center.

Joshua Shapiro continued his dominance on the hill going six scoreless innings. The senior pitchers allowed just three hits, while striking out six Panthers as he received a no decision.
Â
Shapiro has allowed just two runs, one earned, in five starts this season. He lowered his ERA to 0.36 after today's contest.
Â
D'Andre Knight and Michael Guerrero combined for three innings of scoreless baseball in the seventh, eighth and ninth as the game went to extras.
Â
FIU struck for three runs in the top of 10 and the Herd was unable to answer in the bottom of the inning.
Â
Shane Hanon and Erik Rodriguez each had a pair of hits for Marshall.

- The loss ended a Herd six-game win streak.
