Baseball Falls in Saturday Contest Against Middle Tennessee

Rodriguez collected ninth RBI of the series
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall baseball (16-10, 5-3 C-USA) dropped the middle game of the series, 10-5, to Middle Tennessee on Saturday as the Blue Raiders took advantage of free passes.
MT took an early 2-0 advantage in the top of the second, but an Erik Rodriguez RBI-single brought home Geordon Blanton in the bottom of the third to cut the deficit to 2-1.
However, Middle would go on to score six runs in the fourth and two in the sixth to take a 10-1 advantage.
After a Zach Inskeep single and a Tucker Linder double, Elvis Peralta brought home Inskeep for the Herd's second run of the game in the bottom of the sixth. The double by Linder extended his hit streak to 11 games.
Marshall brought home three more runs in the final three innings on a single by Luke Edwards and a sacrifice fly by Inskeep in the seventh and Inskeep brought home another run in the ninth, but the Herd comeback fell short.
Herd pitching issued four walks and hit four batters in the ballgame. Marshall stranded nine on base as the Blue Raiders stranded seven base runners.
UP NEXT
Marshall looks to rebound in the rubber match at 1 p.m. tomorrow as it looks to take the series over Middle Tennessee.
