Marshall Turns Attention to Virginia Challenge

Event to be held Friday-Saturday
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Marshall track and field team will be at the University of Virginia this weekend, gearing up to compete in the Virginia Challenge.

The field consists of a wide-range of programs (52 different schools and one club team). The Big Ten's Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan State, as well as ACC programs NC State, UNC will all be in attendance as will Notre Dame. A handful of Ivy League universities are also expected to be participate.
Â
Tennessee, ranked 16th in women's outdoor track and field (via NCAA.com), will compete as well.

Programming Note: Due to a stormy forecast for noon on Friday, the competition's start time has been moved up to 9 a.m.

- Anavia Battle of Ohio State currently holds the fastest outdoor 200-meter time.
- Penn State's Alexis Holmes has the sixth-fastest outdoor 400-meter time.
- Sophia Franklin of Michigan holds the sixth-best outdoor pole vault mark.
- UNC's Nicole Green recorded a top high jump mark that ranks second in the nation.
- Summer Thorpe from Notre Dame has the nation's eleventh fastest 100-meter hurdles time.
