Duo sets school records
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – On the second and final day of the Don McGarey Invitational, Marshall track and field put forth a stellar overall performance. The Herd won four individual events and rode 150 team points all the way to second place. Host Kennesaw State took first (234) and Jacksonville State (89) rounded out the top three.
Sophomore Brandy Elysee, perhaps the performer of the day, won the 400-meter dash with a new school-record time of 55.40. Talor Wilkerson also placed second (55.83), and Danere'a White finished fourth (58.17). Wilkerson's time is a personal best.
Safiyyah Mitchell won the 100-meter hurdles final with a time of 13.66 and saw teammate Taylor Robinson come in third. Ashonti Warner finished eighth and set a personal best time of 14.77.
Elysee also took second in the 200-meter dash. She ran a 24.13 time.
Ashonti Warner won the 400-meter hurdles after clocking a time of 1:00.81. The time is a personal best for Warner. Her teammate Christianna Dogan captured second (1:00.98) in the event.
Senior Hasana Clark won the shot put, scoring a mark of 14.24 meters. The mark shattered her previous personal best of 13.72 meters. Freshman MaryAnn Adebayo came in fourth.
Kayla Haywood and Denisha West each finished third in one of their events. Haywood ran a 100-meter personal best time of 11.77, and West registered a 11.89 mark in the triple jump.
Marshall's lone relay team of the day, one of Elysee, Haywood, Mitchell and Wilkerson, placed third in the 4x100m relay.

Just a day after recording seven top-five finishes, Marshall came through with 13 more on the second day of the Mountaineer Showcase, as well as a new school record.
Only a month after breaking the outdoor pole vault school record, Macie Majoy broke it again with a height of 3.82 meters. Her previous record was one of 3.70 meters. Majoy earned third place in the event, and her teammate Lauren Zaglifa finished seventh.
The Herd went on to sweep the long jump event, taking the top four finishes.
Senior Lauren George won with her mark of 5.59 meters. Josie Raines placed second (5.57m), Sarah Bever finished third (5.45m) and Torie Derrow ran fourth (5.35m). Derrow's mark is a personal best.
Bever and Derrow also went on to finish second and third, respectively, in the high jump. Bever's top jump was 1.55 meters, while Derrow's was 1.50.
Sydnei Taylor ran a 59.09 in the 400-meter dash and earned herself a second place finish. Erica Murphy finished third in the same event (1:00.69). Taylor and Murphy also came in third and sixth, respectively, in the 200-meter dash.
