Thundering Herd takes seventh
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Marshall finished seventh overall with 58 team points, its most since 2013, at the 2019 Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships Sunday in Charlotte.

A day after her preliminary heat win, Ashonti Warner took second in the 400-meter hurdles final, with a school-record time of 59.58 seconds. Christianna Dogan finished fourth and recorded the second-best time in school history (1:00.04).

Safiyyah Mitchell also won a silver medal in the 100-meter hurdles, clocking in at 13.66 seconds. Taylor Robinson ended up in fifth place (14.03).

The 4x100m relay team of Brandy Elysee, Kayla Haywood, Mitchell and Talor Wilkerson earned the Herd's third second-place finish of the day—after running a 46.22 time. The group was ranked 12th in the league in the event entering the weekend.

In the 4x400m relay, the team of Dogan, Elysee, Danere'a White and Wilkerson finished in seventh place. Their time of 3:42.90 is now the third-best in school history.

Heidi Heiniger threw for 42.90 meters in javelin and earned a seventh-place finish. Sylvia Terente came in 11th (36.96m), and Torie Derrow posted a 17th-place finish (31.15m).
